One important factor that affects nutrient uptake is whether your solution is acidic or alkaline, which is measured by a pH value. The clever little pH pen allows you to read the optimum pH level to provide the nutrients your plants need. Once you have measured and know the pH with the Bluelab pH pen, your plants can receive the necessary nutrients. You can then measure how much food is available, which is called conductivity and is measured in either ppm or EC. This is when the Bluelab EC pen or Bluelab ppm pen is used.
