Against Fungus Gnat Larvae

Solbac combats fungus gnat larvae in plant pots. This highly specific biological preparation based on Bacillus thuringiensis (var. israelensis) is safe for beneficial insects and poses no risk to fish, pets, or plants. It is available in liquid form (Solbac 100 ml) or as tablets (Solbac-Tabs).

Fungus gnats are tiny black flies that can be found on the soil or near the pots, where they swarm around. Their larvae feed on the roots of the plants. Sensitive plants can die off in the event of a severe infestation.

To combat fungus gnat larvae, add one Solbac-Tab or 2.5 ml of Solbac per liter of watering water to the watering can. Water the plants as usual. The treatment should be repeated after 14 days. The visible effect of the product occurs after 10–14 days. In cases of very severe infestation, we recommend using the nematode preparation Traunem.

Tips for preventing fungus gnat infestations: Avoid purchasing pots and bags that are already swarming with fungus gnats when buying plants and soil. Avoid standing water in the saucer. Use sticky traps for monitoring infestations.
