PSR, PSE, and PSTX soft starters can be connected to a fieldbus network for monitoring and control purposes. For the flagship PSTX, ABB offers an Anybus connection. The AB-MODBUS-RTU-1 is an Anybus connection accessory for the PSTX30 to PSTX1250. MODBUS RTU is used in small systems that require monitoring, control, and remote commands. The advantages of MODBUS RTU include easy connection and configuration. The communication protocol is widely used, the transmission is very cost-effective, but it is not suitable for long distances. Additionally, the protocol is neither fast nor deterministic.
