The 3M Scotchlok connector is suitable for connecting single or multi-stranded conductors in installation wiring technology. With a cross-sectional area of 0.5 to 1.5 square millimeters, it allows for a through connection even on uncut conductors. The black Scotchlok connector withstands a maximum voltage of 30 volts and a temperature limit of 105 °C. It can be used in control, measurement, and regulation areas as well as in automotive electronics and switchgear construction. Its operation is based on the principle of a U-element: the conductors to be connected are inserted into the connector without needing to be stripped beforehand. By applying light pressure with the Scotchlok tool, the U-elements remove the insulation from the wires, increase the contact area, and establish contact with the conductor. The U-element, which is under spring tension, encloses the individual wires and ensures a mechanically secure, shock-resistant, electrically flawless, and durable connection. The connector has been tested in the high-voltage testing field of 3M Deutschland GmbH in accordance with VDE 0606, 0607, 0303, 0470, and IEC23F and has met all requirements. The Scotchlok connectors are all UL and C.S.A. listed.
