Xiaomi Air Pump
Xiaomi Air Pump
Can this pump also be used for SUP?
It works, but you need an adapter for the SUP. I managed it with the Slingshot SUP adapter. The question is whether it is worth it, because it takes a very long time to reach the required 15 PSI. But it switches off automatically as soon as it reaches it. So it can be run without fear of overpressure. I think the pump is built for smaller containers, as it pumps little air, but maintains the pressure well. The SUP needs a bit more air.
Test scenario was:
- The SUP was inflated with the mattress pump until the shape was there, but without pressure.
- Then the Xiaomi pump with adapter was attached.
Pressure below 3 PSI is not displayed at all, so it takes a little time to get results. It took between 30~60 minutes to reach 15 PSI. The battery was empty afterwards. But the SUP was ready to go.
So not recommended if you just want to get in the water quickly. Otherwise, I recommend the following procedure.
- Inflate the SUP with a conventional mattress pump until the pressure is too low.
- Inflate by hand to at least 5 PSI
- Set the pump to 15 PSI and let it run
If it takes too long, pump a little by hand in between.
