Waldhausen - The goal of company founder Anton Waldhausen was to guarantee exceptional quality. As early as the 1850s, he established a specialized store in Cologne and supplied European noble families beyond the city limits with high-quality saddles and harnesses. As a product of the highest quality, the "Waldhausen Saddle" achieved widespread fame.
As a far-sighted businessman, the son Henri Waldhausen expanded the range of harnesses and saddles to include exclusive leather and trunk goods. By 1895, Waldhausen was the largest saddlery and leather goods retail store in Germany. The marble and glass facade was considered the most beautiful in Cologne at the time.
The success of the Waldhausen company made it the purveyor to the court of various princes and royal families. During the Second World War, all facilities of the Waldhausen company were completely destroyed. Ernst Albrecht Assenmacher Senior rebuilt the company and again concentrated production on equestrian articles.
