When lubricating, always ensure that no spray or oil gets on the rim edges or brake discs. Apply the chain lubricant to the inside of the chain. Hold a cloth under the chain to avoid dirt on the floor. If you do not have a stand, rotate the pedal evenly and slowly backward while lubricating the chain (about four turns are sufficient). Wipe off any excess lubricant with a cloth. Allow the oil or spray enough time to take effect, preferably overnight.
