With the introduction of plastic balls, a new trend has emerged in the development of modern offensive rubbers. The tendency is clearly towards harder rubbers with very grippy and, in some cases, sticky surfaces. Stiga has succeeded in combining the best of modern sponge technology and surface technology with the development of the DNA Dragon Grip.
The DNA Dragon Grip features an extremely grippy and sticky surface that provides high control while maximizing spin generation. Unlike traditional Chinese rubbers, which often have a sticky surface but exhibit slightly lower dynamics, the Stiga rubber offers an integrated fresh glue effect with very good dynamics thanks to German sponge technology. Although the sponge has a hardness of 55°, it feels significantly softer due to the Tensor technology.
The DNA Dragon Grip is manufactured in Germany using the new C-Touch Tensor technology. This advanced sponge technology was developed based on extensive feedback from top players and artificial intelligence. Through the digital analysis of data, Stiga was able to identify key material properties that were previously only possible through the analysis of thousands of different rubber samples. The result of this data analysis is a rubber with unique properties and the aforementioned extra-hard sponge with 55 degrees.
The rubber is particularly effective for serves and returns. Thanks to the sticky surface, a very high spin is achievable. The hard sponge also has less catapult effect, allowing for very controlled and precise returns. In topspin openings, it impresses with high grip and maximum spin development, while the DNA Dragon Grip maintains a very high, long trajectory.
