This unique, bright red seal was inspired by industries that require airtight seals in the most challenging environments. It has a lifespan more than five times longer than carbon-containing rubber or Buna-N materials previously used. The new two-stage sealing geometry seals both at the valve shaft and at the base of the valve core threads, allowing for a more positive seal and improved durability. The new seal glides over the valve shaft with a satisfying "click," while the unique inner geometry utilizes the air pressure in the line to press the seal onto the valve shaft: the higher the pressure, the tighter the seal. This design is so iconic that we have found over 20 companies worldwide that manufacture pump heads and seals inspired by this design, but none come close to the precision and technology of the SILCA 242.
