The new Saint focuses entirely on the gravity sector in mountain biking, a statement that is more than clearly underlined by the features of this new group. To ensure that the new SAINT will set the standard in the toughest downhill racing conditions, the component group was developed in close collaboration with professional racers such as Aaron Gwin and Gee Atherton. These riders have provided Shimano engineers and designers with invaluable input on where and how to further improve the previous SAINT to get the best performance on the track, and Shimano engineers have studied the enormous forces acting on the crank in gravity disciplines and chose a steel axle and threaded pedal sleeves made of steel to accommodate this.
