The new Shimano Dura-Ace derailleur RD-R9100 must be mounted on the bike with a special outer casing OT-RS900. The trick with Shimano's polymer coating is that it reduces surface friction on the liner and keeps the grease in place longer. The significant advantages are the noticeably lower shifting forces and the perceived faster shifting processes.

Advantages of the OT-RS900: The standard OT-SP41 outer casing is too stiff for the new Dura-Ace derailleur. Accordingly, it requires an outer casing that allows for the best performance with a smaller radius without causing technical problems, and quick installation and removal of the rear wheel is not a complicated process. This is made possible with Shimano's OT-SR900 outer casing due to its lower stiffness.

Note: The OT-RS900 should only be used on the derailleur side.
