A net and double bottom provide a reassuring feeling. The FREE 100 rescue device, with a real buoyancy of 110 N, does the same for swimmers and others who want to be safe. It is not uncommon for swimmers in open water to feel secure, only to suddenly face problems, such as cramps or fatigue.
This new inflatable rescue device resembles a slightly thicker belt when not in use. The buoyancy body is tightly folded in a small pocket on a hip belt. Tests have shown that the belt is hardly noticeable while swimming. In an emergency, the user pulls the buoyancy body out of the pocket in front of the torso and then directly over the head. A manual release activates a CO2 cartridge. The gas flows into the buoyancy body, providing lift and stabilizing both the vest and the person.
The Invisible Backup System
This rescue device, whose functionality is already more widespread on the other side of the Atlantic, is available in specialty stores. In the USA, life jackets of this type are among the most popular models. While a life jacket with a buoyancy class of 150N or 275N is essential for most water sports, the FREE 100 offers a good backup system for swimmers and SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboarding). With the vest in the belt, safety is ensured while keeping the upper body free.
