Top cooker, rest is not so good...

You should always test purchased equipment at home instead of on the field... otherwise you can experience something. I tested the set right after I received it.

I can recommend the cooker / burner, makes a solid impression
and the piezo igniter works well. It has a slightly larger diameter than usual but also fits in the size in other systems. It is also not loud and produces a nice synchronous jet flame.

The rest of the set is unfortunately a flop.... There is even a note saying not to turn up the flame too much, otherwise there will be problems with the rubber ring on the pot. Yes, I can confirm that! The heat deforms the rubber and it slips down, which can cause quite a mess because the rubber ring certainly can't stand the direct heat from the cooker... I turned it off in time. But to be honest, I don't know exactly whether I'm giving too much juice or not, which means you have to keep a constant eye on it to make sure there's no accident. Sorry, that's stupid to handle.

Then it goes on, the rubber ring doesn't help with boiling water either, you still can't touch it... maybe with gloves - also rubbish. Then the mini tongs are used, which cause a scratch when you grab the pot (that's it for the protective layer on the aluminium). Then the tongs are also far too small to safely handle 1 litre of boiling water without an accident happening... then a pouring notch is also missing to round off the whole thing.

So it doesn't look like eat-your-own-food next to the cooker. Dear colleagues from MSR, use your stuff once in a while and you'll notice it. It also helps to look at what's on the left and right now and then.

Buy the cooker without the set here! The best thing to do is to buy an Optimus Terra Weekend HE cookset or a Toaks Titanium 1100ml pot with pan.

    • The aluminium pot has no notch for easy pouring out
    • The aluminium pot gets scratches when you use the pliers
    • The rubber ring on the aluminium pot is useless and dangerous (see comment).
    • The tongs are too small for 1L of hot water - risk of accident

    A must

The stove system is excellent, I would highly recommend this over the super bulky windburner or jetboil. Stove system is compact, and easy to pack up. One downside is that the rubber part of the pot slips down when the pot gets really hot, so you need to keep an eye out at all times. Futher I'd like to specify that the MSR gas bottle is not included in this set which (at the time) was not obviously mentioned.
