For accuracy, we recommend performing the process without a saddle pad. Step 1: Place the saddle in riding position on your horse or pony's back and make a reference mark directly under the saddle nail - we suggest carefully parting your horse's hair as a marker. Step 2: Remove the saddle. Place the PE Gullet Gauge on the withers of your horse and align the gauge with the reference mark you made earlier. Step 3: Ensure that the contact area of the gauge rests comfortably on the horse. Make sure the gauge is free from the horse's withers. Step 4: The tool will now display the color of the gullet for your horse from the palette of interchangeable PE gullets. We recommend repeating this process every three to four months. We advise consulting a qualified saddler to fit your saddle.
