Vegan, sustainable and unique - cork headband "Cortica Strass"

Cork products have long been a sustainable alternative to leather outside of riding. Until now, however, they have not been widely used in the field of horse riding. We want to change that. We are one of the few equestrian companies that offer vegan riding accessories made of cork. We aim to leave a lasting imprint and provide vegan horse lovers with an excellent alternative to leather. For almost two years, the products were developed and thoroughly tested, then modified and adapted. This is how our sustainable and vegan collection "Cortica" was born, consisting of bridles, reins, headbands, browbands, chaps, boots, and spur straps.

Cork fabric - the vegan leather
Sustainable & vegan
As the bark of the cork oak tree, cork is a renewable and biodegradable raw material. The cork oak tree can live for over 300 years and is manually debarked every 12 years or so during its lifetime. This process makes the tree more resistant and ensures the longevity of cork oak forests, which protect against soil erosion and absorb several times more CO2 than other trees. A large proportion of cork oaks grow in Portugal, where they form a very important ecosystem for many rare animals.

Resistant & unique
Cork fabric, or cork leather, is very resistant to tearing and wear and is also water repellent. The cork sheets from the bark are joined together with an organic glue to form larger sheets and are cut finely. They are then assembled like a puzzle and applied to a fabric backing, sealed, and can finally be made into cork fabric. Like leather, each piece of cork fabric is unique.

Easy to care for
Cork products can be cared for by lightly wiping them with a damp cloth or sponge.
