The Chambon is used only during lunging to avoid pressure on the horse's back. It consists of three parts and brings the horse back by applying pressure to the neck and mouth, encouraging the head to lower and promoting a downward forward motion.

The Chambon is used as follows: One part starts with the strap between the front legs and runs in front of the horse's chest. Two long ropes are attached to the strap, running through the rings of the headpiece and hooking into the rings of the bit. When the head position is high, the Chambon applies pressure to the horse's neck and mouth corners. Once the horse lowers its head and neck, the pressure disappears, and the correct posture is achieved. The result is an extension of the horse's neck.

It promotes the first two points on the training scale: rhythm and suppleness. This rein is very suitable for horses that have difficulty lowering their neck and achieving neck extension.
