Traditionally, a paddle-tail soft bait is rigged on the jig head, which is then usually dragged or twitched along the bottom of the water. Depending on the aggressiveness of the fish, it can be used in two different ways. If the fish are lethargic and unresponsive, a retrieve with longer sinking phases of two to three seconds is recommended. Keep the rod at a right angle to the line to instantly respond to even the slightest bites. This method of retrieving is also known as "finesse fishing." If the fish are aggressive, a retrieve using the rod is more effective. In this case, you twitch the soft bait with two rod movements and then continue with two quick turns of the reel before letting it sink again. This technique, known as "jigging," stirs up the bottom and prolongs the sinking phase.
