This shoe is suitable for demanding hikes in hilly regions, even on poor paths. Categories A to D determine the stiffness of the sole, the drop, and the shaft construction, which influences the positioning of a model within the categories.

D = very stiff and fully crampon-compatible (step-in/automatic crampons).
C = stiff and conditionally crampon-compatible (strap-on/semi-automatic crampons).
B = firm support and solid, yet flexible sole for trekking and hiking.
A = soft, very well-flexing construction.

100% resoleable. Thanks to the stitched or welted construction, Hanwag's shoes can be resoled multiple times.
