Göbel Dengelmax Extra Senseng sharpening machine
To keep scythes and sickles sharp for a long time and improve their cutting ability, they should not be ground: scythes and sickles should only be sharpened. Through mowing work and regular honing with a whetstone, the thin edge wears down over time, causing the cutting blade to lose its sharpness. Sharpening serves to thin and harden the edge, which sharpens the blade and significantly increases its longevity. This method of cold deformation can also remove nicks up to about 5 millimeters deep in the edge.
In addition to traditional sharpening with a sharpening anvil and hammer, which requires some practice and skill, using the Dengelmax Extra sharpening machine is relatively easy to learn with a bit of practice. The cutting blade is guided through a groove past rotating steel balls. The steel balls roll out the cutting edge of the blade and thin it, just like sharpening with a hammer. The guidance and consistent pressure of the steel balls ensure that the edge is worked very evenly. The resulting thin edge is very sharp and provides a clean, smooth cut during mowing.
The sharpening machine is delivered ready for use and pre-set. For mounting, two wood screws (for fixed installation, not included), a vice, or a clamp are needed. Before each use, the pressure bearing must be oiled or greased.
