Vectran is a patented puncture protection developed by Continental that is lighter and more flexible while providing more effective protection than comparable nylon puncture protection. It does not reduce the tyre's rolling resistance. Vectran is a liquid crystal polymer (LCP), similar to spider silk, which is spun from molten Vectra liquid polymer and processed into multifilament yarn. Like spider silk, Vectran is very tear-resistant and at the same time lightweight.
