Product details
All-rounder in the professional circus, the perfect tire choice for Paris-Roubaix with its 25 mm width. The extra wide Vectran breaker also protects the shoulders from punctures. It features a robust 3/180 tpi carcass, providing more grip and comfort in bad conditions.
BlackChili offers excellent wet grip with low rolling resistance. This revolutionary tread compound is based on the latest polymer and raw material research. Continental refines newly developed synthetic rubbers with proven natural rubber to produce particularly high-performance profile compounds. Nano-scale soot particles are added to these rubbers, optimized in shape and surface properties to match the compound to the respective application of the tire. Tires with BlackChili compound achieve an unprecedented level of performance. Compared to activated silica tires, BlackChili tires have 26% lower rolling resistance, 30% higher static friction (grip), and 5% higher mileage.
Vectran is a synthetically produced high-tech fiber with a natural look. Like spider silk, Vectran is a liquid crystalline polymer (LCP). It is spun from molten liquid polymer Vectra and further processed into a multi-fibrous yarn. Both spider silk and Vectran have enormous tensile strength with the lowest weight. The resistance of Vectran is proven by many applications, including ropes for astronauts, spinnaker sails, deep-sea cables, and cut-resistant clothing. Vectran is used wherever extreme durability is required. The Vectran fiber has five times higher tensile strength than steel, is fatigue resistant, and therefore extremely resilient. These properties make it ideal for puncture protection in a Continental top tire. A Vectran breaker is lighter, more flexible, and protects more effectively against cuts than comparable nylon breakers, without negatively affecting rolling resistance.
