The Polartec® Alpha® material offers excellent insulation – soft, elastic, and lightweight. A few years ago, we thought it would be great for baselayers, but it felt rather damp and clammy against the skin. However, when we were looking for more warmth for our gravel rides in sub-zero temperatures, we tried the Alpha® prototypes as a second layer over a Prosecco baselayer and found the perfect combination for cold rides. We worked on the details and perfected this second layer for chilly days. It features a half-length zipper that doesn’t add bulk around the belly area. The zipper is slightly off-center to avoid multiple zippers meeting at the neck. The fit is close to the body, allowing you the option to tuck it into your tights or wear it over them, as we do. It works excellently over a Flanders, Bandito, Miracolo, or Seamless baselayer.
