Maximum insulation and moisture management for rides in cold weather as an intermediate layer between the baselayer and jacket.

The Polartec® Alpha® material provides excellent insulation – soft, stretchy, and lightweight. A few years ago, we thought it would be great for baselayers, but it felt damp and clammy against the skin. However, when we were looking for more warmth for our gravel rides in sub-zero temperatures, we tried the Alpha® prototypes as a second layer over a Prosecco baselayer – and discovered the perfect combination for cold weather rides. We worked on the details and perfected this second layer for chilly days. It features a half-length zipper to avoid bulk around the stomach area. We also positioned the zipper slightly off-center to prevent multiple zippers from meeting at the neck. The fit is close to the body, allowing you the option to tuck it into your tights or wear it over them, as we do. We also found that it works excellently over a Flanders, Bandito, Miracolo, or Seamless baselayer.
