The low weight is achieved through Inmold construction, where the outer shell is thermally bonded with the Hi-EPS. The back and temple areas are extended downward for maximum safety, allowing for even greater head coverage.

In the event of falls with angled impacts, Mips is designed to help reduce rotational forces acting on the head.
