Question about Römertopf Roman pots

The pot is made of stoneware, the black one is glazed. They are fired at a temperature of around 1000 degrees. Higher temperatures can occur on the open fire, which could lead to cracked glaze, unless the company uses a special glaze. You have to ask the manufacturer about this. In terms of construction, it is more like a Bachofen pot.

The pot was bought by me for use in the oven. For use with an open fire, a suitable pot would have to be purchased.
