Question about Kilner drink dispenser

I want to ferment kombucha in this tank, the culture does not like metal. Does the tap (the metal) protrude into the vessel? How is it attached? Is the plastic or rubber carbonic acid resistant?

Can be used for kombucha without any problems. I bought the same vessel for the same purpose and used it successfully. Just don't close the lid completely during the process ... ;)
