I received the appliance a few days ago and put it into operation, it basically does what it should.
The machine is relatively quiet/monotonous, but what bothers me more is the constant splashing of the water. The sound is comparable to an indoor fountain. Does this have to be the case or is it normal for this appliance?

According to our research, others have also experienced that it makes "dripping noises". I would therefore assume that this is normal for this appliance.
