Can this appliance be used with commercially available cleaning agents or do I have to buy the cleaning agents from Bissel?

You can also use conventional products. However, I do not recommend this appliance as it does not get any cleaner than a conventional mop. It's better to pay a little more for a good floor cleaning machine. E.g. from Kärcher
