Once you have removed the cover, you should see 2 silver contacts. The charging holder with the mating contact for the battery, which I included with the replacement battery, is pushed onto the holder with the two exposed contacts from the front. The replacement battery can then be inserted and charged from above.

With the additional battery, you also get an extension that is mounted on top of the R20 wall station. This means that you then have a separate charging option independent of the battery in the hoover, so that both batteries can be charged at the same time. When you are vacuuming, the second battery will continue to charge in the additional holder in the meantime.
