Since the company was founded in 1853, the former Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (now WMF Group GmbH) has been producing high-quality kitchen utensils and household goods for private households, catering and the hotel industry. WMF's best-known achievement is the stainless steel Cromargan with 18% chrome and 10% nickel, which owes its name to its high chrome content and silver-like appearance. Chrome makes the metal rustproof, while nickel gives it acid resistance and lustre.
