Vitra Love Heart

Designer Alexander Girard is considered one of the key figures in American post-war design, alongside George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames. His primary focus was textile design, but Girard also made significant contributions as a furniture, graphic, exhibition, and interior designer. His work added a sensual and playful component to 20th-century design, which had previously been lacking in the classic forms of modernism.

Often, Girard designed restaurant interiors, not only focusing on color schemes and furniture but also extending his design work to details such as menus, matchbooks, dishware, and napkins. This diverse world served as the starting point and inspiration for the selection of motifs for the coffee mugs.
