The board has already been coated with two coats of Tung oil. This drying, protective oil is completely food-safe and makes the planks water-repellent. Would you like to give your serving board an extra layer of protection after frequent use? That can be done. Lightly sand the surface, make it completely dust-free and rub the Tung oil onto the board with a lint-free cloth. Remove the excess oil after about 15 minutes and repeat the process after an hour. The shelf needs a few hours to a day to dry completely. It is best to store the tung oil in a dark place and always close the bottle tightly. Oxygen causes the oil to dry out.
