The cast iron lid is ideal as a complement to cast iron roasters with glass lids when both pot and lid are exposed to higher temperatures in the oven. It is also often beneficial to use a lid for braising in deep pans. Unlike glass lids, cast iron lids conduct heat and radiate it back, giving dishes a particularly intense flavor.

Cast iron lids are the best type of lid. They heat up in the same way as the cast iron pots and pans themselves. This achieves a particularly even heat effect similar to that of an oven. The Skeppshult lid is handcrafted in an environmentally conscious manner from natural cast iron. No paints or chemicals are used in the manufacturing process.
