Rosenthal Bowls

When Rosenthal launched TAC 1 by Walter Gropius in 1969, his designs also included a completely independent series for the coffee table that never went into production. At that time, drawings for a dining service that followed the design language of the successful tea set were already in the product development drawer. These served as the basis for the current program TAC 02. Decades after his death, the bowls by Walter Gropius are now being produced, with lids featuring the distinctive side-mounted carabiner-shaped handle, similar to the legendary teapot. Gropius relied on simple geometric shapes. In his spirit, the circle and the sphere remain the defining elements of the plain plates and bowls, with which an entire menu can now be set. The unmistakable Gropius design is also evident in the new coffee pot: its shape closely follows the body of the teapot and rises stylishly upward. TAC 02 is the result of a close collaboration between the Rosenthal Creative Center and the Bauhaus Foundation in Dessau. This professional cooperation made it possible for this expanded program to do justice to the great design skills of Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius. The purist design, based on simple geometric forms, gives TAC a timeless poetry. Delicate décors and striking black-and-white contrasts on the finest, slightly translucent porcelain emphasize the outstanding design features of this Bauhaus icon.
