Rörstrand Ostindia Black - flat plate 27 cm

The decorative design of the Ostindia collection was inspired by a porcelain plate recovered from the cargo hold of the Swedish East Indiaman "Götheborg," which sank during a voyage to China in 1745. Many years later, the wife of the then managing director of Rörstrand discovered the shard in a cupboard at the factory and immediately recognized the potential of the design. Thus, in 1932, the fragment of the blue Chinese porcelain became the model for Ostindia - a service featuring an ultramarine pattern on a light blue background, framed by a warm, rust-red rim.

With Ostindia Black, a successor to the classic white and blue Ostindia tableware was introduced, which stands up to the classic in every way. The black service exudes elegance and sensuality while simultaneously impressing with its modern and rejuvenated appearance.
