The artistic concentric ornamentation of "Valencia" recalls the intoxicatingly opulent motifs of Andalusian mosaic tiles. Magnificently patterned tiles made their way from the Orient to southern Spain during the Moorish reign and still adorn the walls and floors of countless buildings today. Unlike their vividly colored counterparts, the "Valencia" designs are presented in velvety subtle earth tones. Because these are applied using a stamping technique, small variations in color intensity and/or decorative expression are inevitable, meaning no two pieces are exactly alike; each is, in a sense, a unique item.
