  Actually good, if that would not be with the lid

  Looks good and also seems to be pretty well processed, but unfortunately the lid does not sit properly. Due to the fact that the lid does not seal, or leaves quite a gap open, the bucket is already surrounded by fruit flies after a short time. more

  Perfectly decent compost bin

  Pro

  • Nicely designed
  • Much more attractive than those horrid green things
  • Filter seems to work well against smells
  • Rounded edges means easy to clean
  • Good solid plastic - goes in the dishwasher!
  • Good size, not too big

  Contra

  • Seals too well..? You can forget you have to empty it
  • Lid is separate so you have to put it somewhere while you put the food scraps in

  After a lot of back and forth...

  At first I was very convinced by these buckets. No corners inside (easier to clean), filter, no annoying closing of the lid (just put it on), made in Switzerland and so on and so forth.
  But this lid... is not perfect after all.
  
  Unfortunately, there is a minimal gap between the lid and the wall of the bucket. Very small, but still big enough for fruit flies. And you can't get rid of them so quickly once they have found the bucket. And that despite the filter. Which in turn makes the filter unnecessary.
  
  Accordingly, after a year of use, my 1-star rating.
  
  Note: The problem with fruit flies existed both indoors and outdoors. more
