    Worst humidifier EVER!

Actually, I wanted to replace a Stadler Form Oskar with the Dyson AM10 - actually...

First the positive about the Dyson'sche technology miracle. The AM10 is relatively easy to put into operation, as well as the effort for
maintenance seems to be within limits. The water tank has to be filled "upside down", but stands relatively solidly thanks to the straight surfaces on the top. The filled water tank and the "ventilation ring" can easily be placed on the base. With the help of the remote control, the AM10 can be started and put into humidification mode. The AM10 has a UV purification technology which is supposed to remove 99.9% of bacteria from the water. In order for this to work reliably, the AM10 will put itself into cleaning mode for the first 3 minutes before humidification begins. Once the 3 minutes are up, the normal mode begins and so do the problems.

Dyson advertises the thing with "Quiet Mark" technology. No idea what is supposed to be "quiet" about it. I seriously wonder where the 1700 Dyson engineers mentioned on the packaging have gone. The fan may be quiet for a vacuum cleaner, but I personally have never heard such a loud humidifier. Next to the fan you can hear the bubbling of the water. I guess the 0.1% of the surviving bacteria are hard of hearing afterwards. If you got used to the annoying noise, you will be happy about the newly acquired white dust on the furniture.

Long story, short: If you are interested in a humidifier that sounds like a panting guinea pig sucking on a water bottle, you should be satisfied with the product. For all others I can only recommend to look for an alternative.

    not recommended

Humidification performance rather moderate. But the white precipitation everywhere is terrible. Although partially decalcified water is used, there is white precipitation everywhere - a precipitation that is a cause for concern, especially for electronic devices such as TVs, stereos, etc. I would not recommend the unit.
I would not recommend the appliance.

Should have a few more functions...

Basically, the unit does what it is supposed to do. It is a humidifier. But it can also be used only as a fan, which can be useful in the summer.
If you want to use the unit in the bedroom, you need to know that the noise
production even at the lowest fan level is such that some find it too loud. It is a constant noise, like air conditioners in hotels.
In addition, the unit gurgles every 1-2 minutes for 1-2 seconds when water flows in. (only in humidifier mode).
This can also be annoying when you want to fall asleep.

The construction of the water container is such that the water filler neck is on the underside of the container. You have to remove the container and turn it upside down to fill it with water. If the filler cap leaks at some point, you have all the water on the bottom. I hope that never happens on our floor.

Unfortunately, there is no way to set the unit to a time when it should activate. Even with an upstream time switch, this is not possible. For example, the unit should automatically set and humidify/ventilate at 8 pm. If you are looking for this, you will have to choose a different unit.

The unit is operated via a power supply unit with 19.2 volts direct current. Thus, the whole thing is safe against electric shock, even if water should leak out. The maximum power consumption of about 50 watts keeps the electricity costs within reasonable limits. (A trip to the doctor because of a sore throat due to too dry air is certainly more expensive).

Since the unit can also be used as a pure fan, you can save yourself another unit in the summer.
At the highest fan level, there is a decent wind, which I would have liked to have had a few times this summer to briefly ventilate the stable.

    Pro

    • Remote control
    • Ten blower speeds
    • Sleep timer: how long should the unit run before it switches off?
    • Good visibility of the water level
    • Fan and humidifier in one unit

    Contra

    • Cumbersome water refilling
    • Leakage risk water tank
    • Noise generation relatively unpleasant (gurgling and fan)
    • No unit setting time possible
