The thread tension is adjusted with a knob.

i would check the manual again and make sure the needle is in the right position. see page 28 in the manual. it is also important to make sure that the needle fixing screw is screwed in correctly... or look at page 37, sewing buttonholes. there you can also adjust the position... could be related to this... have fun... if it works I would appreciate your feedback... I'm sorry, but I can't answer the question. I didn't keep the sewing machine because I didn't like it.

I haven't had the machine very long, but I haven't found a "fix". You have to hold down reverse, as long as you hold it down the machine sews backwards, if you let it go it sews forwards again.
No, it is not included. It is available separately for about 30.
