As long as you only put in whole peppercorns (without additional pepper dust), the disc will hardly get dirty from the inside. If necessary, you can vacuum out the residue with a hoover or clean it with a slightly damp cloth. I would not disassemble it. We have been using this pepper mill almost daily for a few years and are very satisfied with it.
The ceramic grinder is also suitable for salt, the steel grinder could corrode.

Yes, the pepper mill is suitable for large grains and can therefore also be used with other spices.
