It's possible, but not ideal. You will have to stop every few seconds and push the nuts down to the blades again, so it takes a while and requires a lot of intervention from you. If nut butters is your primary goal, then you are better off with a food processor than a blender. With a food processor you should be able to just drop the nuts in and let it go until done.
