The pot body is made of cast iron and has a glossy enamel finish on the outside and a matt enamel finish on the inside. The matt enamel coating protects the inside from rust and prevents food from sticking to the edges. The pot has wide handles, making it easy to handle even when wearing gloves. The pot heats up slowly, but keeps the heat stable for up to 4 hours and can withstand extremely high temperatures of up to 450 degrees.
