The simple use of the PiepEi Detlef makes cooking eggs a breeze: Just place the PiepEi together with the eggs, put them all in the pot, and wait for the PiepEi to play the appropriate Dutch classic to indicate that the eggs are perfectly cooked. Afterwards, cool the eggs and the PiepEi together to enjoy the ideal cooking result. What makes the PiepEi Detlef special is its acoustic signal: It plays "I wish I were a chicken" as soon as the egg is soft-boiled – meaning the yolk is liquid and the white is soft. However, the PiepEi is more than just an ordinary timer. It is based on a thermal model, which is why it's important that the PiepEi and the eggs are stored together before cooking to ensure they have the same starting temperature. This innovative technology allows the PiepEi to function perfectly everywhere, regardless of whether you start with cold or boiling water, how many eggs you are cooking, or at what altitude the PiepEi is located – because, as we know, water boils at a different temperature in the mountains.
