As the name suggests, the blades of Cerasteel knives combine two wonderful material properties: ceramic is extremely hard, so ceramic knives do not need to be resharpened. Steel is flexible and elastic, which prevents it from breaking. Cerasteel is both elastic and permanently sharp.

Aerospace research produced a material called Cermet, a composite of ceramic and metal. Cermet protects components, such as turbine blades and shafts of fighter planes, from extreme stresses. The development of this material was a significant breakthrough in the industry. We now use this material for our knife blades to enhance your cooking experience.

Upon closer inspection in the light, you can see a slight shadow on the blade, which is due to three welded layers of Cermet. Because Cermet wears out slowly, the blades remain sharp for a very long time.
