The short, 90 mm long blade is perfect for preparation and cleaning work. If required, the office knife can also be used for peeling. Nesmuk Janus - unmistakable by its black blade - is made of a high-performance steel with a niobium content and finished with a high-quality diamond-like-carbon coating (DLC) which optimises the functional properties of the blade. Each ferrule is finished by hand, depending on the handle material, with a satin matt brushed or high gloss polished finish. To avoid sharp edges on the handle, an elegant bevel is also applied. The blade, ferrule and handle are manufactured together and perfectly matched to each other with the precision of craftsmanship. The seamless transition from handle to ferrule fits the hand perfectly and no edges disturb the feel. Bog oak is not a wood species in its own right: in fact, it is a sub-fossil, up to 5,000 year old oak trunk that has been lying in North German moors and waters. When such a trunk is found and salvaged in a bog, it must first be dried in a complex drying process that takes several years before it can be processed. The colour varies between brownish and bluish black tones.
