Product details
Nesmuk Janus – unmistakable with its black blade – is made from a high-performance steel with niobium content and refined with a high-quality diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating that optimizes the blade's functional properties. The chef's knife features a 180 mm long and 4 mm thick, single-bevel hollow-ground blade, making it the all-rounder capable of handling approximately 80% of all cutting tasks. It is an essential and versatile base knife for any kitchen. DLC coatings are designed for the highest demands and are used, for example, in aerospace and Formula 1 engines. The amorphous carbon layer, only a few micrometers thick, is resistant to acids, bases, extreme temperatures, and similar aggressive influences. Nesmuk uses an extremely hard, deep black coating variant that is characterized by low friction values and exceptional scratch resistance. Bog oak is not a distinct type of wood: it actually consists of sub-fossilized oak trunks that are up to 5,000 years old, found in northern German bogs and waters. When such a trunk is discovered and recovered from a bog, it must first undergo a complex drying process that takes several years before it can be processed. The color varies between brownish and bluish black tones.
