Microplane Double grater, coarse & fine

Fine or coarse - that is the question here. When food is grated, it is usually done either very finely or coarsely.

The fine blade is ideal for grating citrus fruits or for shredding various spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, and tonka beans, as well as Parmesan and hard cheeses, and ingredients like chocolate to refine or decorate desserts or drinks. The grater produces a very fine result, enhancing the flavor. Tip: This blade can also be used to grate ginger, garlic, or chili peppers to achieve a puree-like consistency.

With the coarse blade, various foods can be grated more coarsely than with the fine blade, without tearing them apart. Chocolate, coconut, or nuts for desserts, onions, shallots, or ginger for cooking, as well as all kinds of vegetables and fruits (e.g., carrots, potatoes, or apples) for preparing baby food or to achieve more texture in dishes.
