First, the bowl is blown into a mold, and the thick stem is drawn out by hand. Next, the foot is shaped with a wooden tool and attached to the stem. This complex process takes place while the glass is still hot and malleable. The fine rim is fire-polished to achieve a smooth surface. The stems are then hand-painted with precious metal colors and fired at high temperatures. The Balloon glasses are not only eye-catching, but each individual glass is a unique design piece.
