The blade consists of 67 layers of Japanese Damascus steel. The middle layer of the blade, known as the core, is ground at an angle. The core of the knife is made from Japanese VG-10 steel, hardened to a hardness of about 58±2 HRC. The VG-10 core is the 67th middle layer, protected by 66 additional layers of steel, which not only safeguard the more delicate core but also create a distinctive design.
