The traditional non-stick effect is achieved by coating pans with PTFE (PolyTetraFluoroEthylene), a waxy synthetic substance. PTFE has well-documented disadvantages in normal household use. At temperatures above 260°C, these PTFE coatings break down. It has been proven that the fumes released during this process can be fatal to animals such as birds. In humans, these fumes can irritate the respiratory system and cause nausea and headaches. Therefore, overheating not only damages your pan but also endangers your health.

GreenPan does not use PTFE but offers a healthy alternative in the market with Thermolon non-stick technology. Thermolon is heat resistant up to 450°C. This means that GreenPan provides additional safety. If the pan is overheated, no toxic fumes are released, and the coating does not bubble or peel off.
